C3 kicks off the 2021-22 season with its first collaboration with the ensemble Unsupervised, a member-organized, conductorless large ensemble based in Chicago. This concert is a Mainstage Event at Ear Taxi Festival 2021, celebrating Chicago’s vibrant new music community in neighborhoods across the city.
New works by Laura Schwendinger, Kyong Mee Choi, Larry Axelrod, Elizabeth Start and Martha Horst.

C3 plus ENSEMBLE DAL NIENTE: NEW SOUNDS, NEW INSTRUMENTS

For the second concert of our 2021-22 season, C3 partners with musicians from Chicago’s Ensemble Dal Niente in a program of new works for harp, flute, viola and electronics. Dal Niente harpist Ben Melsky will be a featured artist on this program.

C3 plus SPEKTRAL QUARTET: THE BERNARD RANDS EFFECT

A collaboration between C3, Spektral Quartet and Bernard Rands, this concert marks the culmination of a three-year project, originally scheduled for performance in 2020 but postponed due to the global pandemic, and postponed again due to illness. Featuring a new string quartet by Bernard Rands, commissioned for this event, plus a series of short quartets written by C3 composers in response to Bernard’s new work. C3 composers include Larry Axelrod, Kyong Mee Choi, Timothy Dwight Edwards, Kathleen Ginther, Martha Horst, Timothy Ernest Johnson, Laura Schwendinger and Elizabeth Start. Join us in celebrating Bernard’s Birthday with a concert of nine world premieres!

C3 plus DURWARD ENSEMBLE

Our final concert of the 2021-22 season will be a collaboration between C3 and Durward Ensemble, a large chamber group based in the Quad Cities area. New works for large ensemble by Elizabeth Start, Amos Gillespie, Laura Schwendinger, Timothy Edwards, Lawrence Axelrod, Kathleen Ginther and Timothy Ernest Johnson.
