Call for Scores 2021

The Chicago Composers Consortium would like to invite a composer to contribute a new or existing work of approximately 7-10 minutes in length for 7-12 players. This work will be performed in Chicago, IL in May, 2022 by Durward Ensemble – a large mixed chamber ensemble consisting of flute, 2 clarinets, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, bass trombone, piano, percussion, violin, viola, and cello. The winning composer will be notified no later than November, 2021.
If the winning composer chooses to write a new work, parts and score for the new work will be due no later than April 1, 2022.

If the winning composer wishes that the submitted work sample be performed in lieu of writing a new work, parts and score for that work will be due no later than April 1, 2022.

Finalists for the competition will also be considered for future projects by the Durward Ensemble. The contest is open to composers of any nationality and age. The winner will receive a $250 honorarium. Applications from underrepresented groups are encouraged.

Submission Details

Please send a single PDF document containing to scores@c3composers.org (File name: LASTNAME_FIRSTNAME_INFO.pdf) containing the following:

1) PDF of work sample (work sample should preferably be for large chamber ensemble and be no more than 10 minutes in length) or link to access PDF of work sample. If composer is submitting an existing work to be considered for the performance, the work sample should be of this piece.
2) The link to an online audio file or stream of this work sample; (no expiration date please)
3) Composer’s contact info (name, email address, phone number)
4) Bio (max. 150 words)
5) CV (1 page only)
